- K5 [8 {. j! ~8 nWe would like to update you on a significant change related to the supported operating systems that is coming with the next major orcad, allegro, and Sigrity release in 2015. We know that 2015 seems a long way off, but this information is important as it may require an OS upgrade and possibly planning with your IT organization.
, S: e H3 X7 j; K# ]Starting with the 17.0 release, all OrCAD, Allegro, and Sigrity products will only function on 64-bit operating systems.9 P- p* B( B$ z* s8 q, a
The only operating systems that will be supported with 17.0 release are:
' Q! N! ~) j/ @2 x( [. a• Windows 7 64-bit0 F5 v* i/ e% {5 t, Q1 P% o
• Windows 8 64-bit9 I2 Z+ q2 H9 J& W
• Redhat Linux 64-bit (Allegro PCB Editor, PCB Router, PCB SI and Sigrity only)
" G5 `. m! e8 A7 w* z6 B• Susie Linux 64-bit (Allegro PCB Editor, PCB Router, PCB SI and Sigrity only)
& b0 n& {; d. ]5 d+ ~Please note that Windows XP 64-bit and Windows Vista 64-bit will NOT supported. Also note that the 17.0 release will NOT install on a 32-bit operating system.
- z, `( T. C/ q1 iThe advantages of OrCAD, Allegro, and Sigrity products on a 64-bit operating system include improved peRFormance on large designs when performing compute intensive tasks such as:* r+ z a8 Y! Z- _
• DRC … especially full design batch DRC
